Bogies Billiards MAY 7/8
Duran and Newsome Go Undefeated
On May 7th-8th, 2011, two brand new winners claimed victory at the 4th Lone Star Stop 8-Ball event hosted by Bogies Billiards and Sports Bar and new owner David Richardson. The newest amateur tour to hit Houston, the Longhorn Amateur Tour, added a “true” amateur division as well which brought the total to 38 players in 3 divisions that concluded late Saturday night in lieu of Mother’s Day on Sunday.
Tour regular John Newsome blew through the open 8-ball division undefeated with wins over Kevin Guimond and Lanny Herrin. Newsome defeated Herrin a second time in the final, 5-3.
Durango Duran played to a tune of his own in the amateur division with an undefeated run to the final where he delivered the final blow to runner-up Jeff Chauncey, leaving Adam Farr a respectable 3rd. Congratulations to Carlos Martinez who captured the junior division victory and junior player Ronald Esman who won the Poison Nitro cue. Ryan Holley and Jeff Ray also took home Poison t-shirts for their raffle participation.
